My painting at the James May Gallery

Theย James May Gallery, based in Algoma, US is a super fresh family-run gallery with an annual art show celebrating our most vital resource โ€“ water. I am honored to be among the selected artists for the Art of Water virtual exhibition on Artsy, with all artworks available for display and sale. The exhibition is running from May 1 โ€“ July 31, 2021.

The James May Gallery is started by Kendra Bulgrin and Jimmy Eddings in 2015 with the goal of presenting contemporary works of art and craft. The gallery is named after their two young sons, Everett James, and Forrest May. The gallery organizes various shows throughout the year, however, the popularity of the Art of Water exhibition stands out and speaks of itself – it is in its fifth edition, and I think many more editions are yet to come!

My oil painting “Woman sunbathing on Lake Como” is part of the Art of Water V. The painting shows a view over the footsteps of the Alps, into the lake where a local ferry – navigazione laghi – is traveling to take the lake’s guests and locals around the lake, from time to time followed by a look of the woman sunbathing.

A woman sunbathing on Lake Como, by Diana Dzene, oil on canvas, 2020.

This painting is part of a limited collection of five other paintings depicting the lake and its boats. If talking about the ferries, in my view have become a signature of the lake. At the end of 2020, I wrote a separate post about them.

I hope you enjoy the Art of Water and, like myself, also find yourself in a need to go where the water is ๐Ÿ™‚
